Wheaton College is a private evangelical Christian liberal arts college in Wheaton, Illinois, about 25 miles west of Chicago. It was chartered in 1860 with Wesleyan Methodist roots and is now interdenominational. Under its motto 'For Christ and His Kingdom', it offers undergraduate majors in the liberal arts and sciences, along with graduate programs in areas such as biblical and theological studies, counseling, and humanitarian and disaster leadership. The campus at 501 College Avenue also houses the Billy Graham Center and the Marion E. Wade Center, which holds materials related to C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien and related authors. Wheaton is test-optional for first-year applicants, though it strongly encourages score submission and requires scores from homeschooled applicants and those from non-accredited schools. It accepts the Common Application or the Coalition Application and reviews applicants holistically.
