The University of Larkano was officially established on 20 August 2023, after the Sindh Provincial Assembly passed the University of Larkano Bill on 24 July 2023, though its roots go back to 2009, when it began as the Engineering College of Larkano. In 2021 the campus broadened beyond engineering, and it became a full university by merging four faculties: Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities, Agriculture, and Law, created from existing institutions that were brought into the new university.
