Western Nevada College (WNC) is a public, multi-campus college in the Nevada System of Higher Education, with its main campus in Carson City, Nevada. It was founded in 1971 as Western Nevada Community College and took its present name in 2007. Besides Carson City, it has campuses in Fallon and Minden and smaller centers across rural northern and western Nevada, plus degree programs in correctional institutions. The college focuses mainly on two-year associate degrees and short-term certificates, with a small number of bachelor's degrees, and also offers workforce training and dual-credit programs with local high schools. WNC has an open admission policy: anyone who applies can be accepted to the college, although some programs, such as limited-entry health programs, have their own selective criteria. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and operates the Jack C. Davis Observatory.
