West Coast University is a private, for-profit university built around health care education. Wikipedia traces its charter to 1909, when it began as a small ophthalmology school; it later ran evening programmes for working adults and service members, lost WASC accreditation and filed for bankruptcy in 1996, and was bought out of bankruptcy in May 1997 by David Pyle. Since 2004 it has concentrated on health professions. The Los Angeles campus is on Victory Boulevard in North Hollywood, alongside campuses in Orange County, Ontario (California), Richardson (Texas) and Miami (Florida). It holds WASC accreditation, with nursing accredited by CCNE and pharmacy by ACPE. Its catalogue spans the associate degree in nursing, a BS in dental hygiene, BSN and LVN-to-BSN routes, and master's and doctoral programmes in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy and pharmacy.
