The University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences was founded in 1979 in Atlanta by Stanley Paris as the Institute of Physical Therapy, taking its present name in 1997. Despite the name and the input founding year, the school was not started in St. Augustine. Headquarters are now in San Marcos, California, with campuses in St. Augustine and Miami in Florida and Austin and Dallas in Texas, plus online delivery. It is private and for-profit: Laureate took a majority stake in 2013, Altas Partners bought it in 2019, and Perdoceo Education Corporation acquired full ownership on December 2, 2024, for about $138 million. WASC Senior College and University Commission accredits it. Enrollment is about 3,780 in one reference listing and roughly 5,100 across five campuses and online in another source. Physical and occupational therapy are its best-known fields.
