The University of Northampton became a full university in 2005, after being University College Northampton from 1999. In 2018 it moved to the purpose-built Waterside Campus, which replaced the old Avenue and Park campuses in Kingsthorpe and brought teaching together near the town centre. Around 13,500 students were enrolled in 2024/25. The institution traces its lineage to 1924 and offers courses in business, health, education and creative subjects.
