UMass Chan Medical School, formerly the University of Massachusetts Medical School, is a public medical school in Worcester, Massachusetts, and part of the University of Massachusetts system. It was established in 1962, and the School of Medicine enrolled its first class of 16 students in 1970. In 2021 a 175 million dollar unrestricted gift from the family of Hong Kong real estate developer Chan Tseng-hsi led to the medical school, along with its biosciences and nursing schools, being renamed in his honor. The institution has three schools: the T.H. Chan School of Medicine, which grants the MD; the Morningside Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, which grants PhDs; and the Tan Chingfen Graduate School of Nursing, which offers master's, post-master's and doctoral degrees. It also runs a biomedical research enterprise and public-service initiatives across Massachusetts. The listed address, 55 N Lake Ave, is the Worcester campus.
