The University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) is a public university in Augusta, Maine, and one of the campuses of the University of Maine System. It was created by the Maine Legislature in 1965 as a continuing education division of the University of Maine, became a campus in 1967 and a separate system campus in 1971. In 1995 the system added the University College of Bangor to UMA. The university serves mainly Maine residents who are place-bound or returning to study, offering bachelor's degrees and selected associate and master's degrees, plus certificates, through its Augusta campus, a Bangor campus, centers around the state and online courses. Wikipedia lists about 3,000 students in fall 2024, with 25 bachelor's, 16 associate and 3 master's programs. Its athletic teams are the Moose. UMA advertises a free application and the Pine Tree State Pledge, which offers zero tuition to eligible students.
