The University of Exeter was formed from several earlier institutions, St Luke's College (1838), the Exeter School of Science (1855), the Exeter School of Art (1863) and the Camborne School of Mines (1888), and it received its royal charter in 1955. It has four campuses: Streatham at 350 acres, the largest, and St Luke's in Exeter, and Penryn and Truro in Cornwall. The Penryn site covers 100 acres and has around 6,000 students. The university had 33,105 students in 2024/25, of whom 23,500 were undergraduates and 9,605 postgraduates.
