The University of Derby spreads across campuses in Derby, Chesterfield and Buxton, though it withdrew its higher education provision from Buxton in 2021. The Kedleston Road site in Derby is its largest and the main student hub, with the biggest library, a multi-faith centre, a doctor's surgery and a refurbished £10.8 million sports centre that doubles as a Human Performance Unit. The university says it has invested £200 million in facilities over the past decade. Its history goes back to 1851, and it is one of the region's major providers of degrees in health, business, computing and the creative subjects.
