UConn Health, formerly the University of Connecticut Health Center, is the academic medical campus of the University of Connecticut, located at 263 Farmington Avenue in Farmington on a wooded hilltop of about 150 acres. The legislature approved the medical school in 1961, supported by a W.K. Kellogg Foundation planning grant, and the medical and dental schools admitted their first classes in fall 1968, 32 medical and 16 dental students. The first doctors graduated in 1972. It houses the School of Medicine, the School of Dental Medicine and a Graduate School offering PhD, MPH and clinical research degrees. UConn John Dempsey Hospital is the teaching hospital and runs the Farmington Valley's only full-service emergency department. A new patient tower was completed in 2016. Wikipedia reports roughly 450 MD and 160 DMD students, though the figure is undated, along with 68 residency programmes.
