The University of Baltimore is a public university in Baltimore, Maryland, and a member of the University System of Maryland. It was founded in 1925 as a private institution offering evening professional education in law and business, and became part of the state system in 1975. For many decades the university offered mainly upper-division undergraduate and graduate degrees, serving transfer students who bring lower-division credit from community colleges and other universities, though it has added a first-year option in recent years. It is organized into the Merrick School of Business, the School of Law, the College of Public Affairs and the College of Arts and Sciences, and offers bachelor's, master's, doctoral and juris doctor degrees. The campus is in the Mount Vernon area near downtown Baltimore. Transfer admission rules, found on the official FAQ page, are centered on a 2.0 GPA.
