Truett McConnell University in Cleveland, Georgia, was founded in 1946 by the Georgia Baptist Convention, with the first classes in September 1947. It was Truett-McConnell College until 2016, when the name changed to the current university title. The 225-acre campus sits in the north Georgia mountains, and the Georgia Baptist Convention still elects its trustees. The Bears compete in the NAIA Appalachian Athletic Conference with 22 varsity sports; earlier teams were the Mountaineers and, from 1965, the Danes. Wikipedia lists thirteen bachelor's degrees including business, Christian studies, education, music and science, plus online business and Christian studies programmes. About 2,141 students are listed across campus and online. The input listing used the older College name, but the school is operating normally under the current name and keeps its Baptist affiliation and its mountain setting.
