The New England College of Optometry Boston, Massachusetts

The New England College of Optometry (NECO) is a private optometry college in Boston's Back Bay at 424 Beacon Street. It was founded in 1894 as the Klein School of Optics by ophthalmologist August Andreas Klein and later operated as the Massachusetts School of Optometry and Massachusetts College of Optometry before taking its current name. The college enrolls over 500 students and offers the Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) and a Master of Science in Vision Science. It runs its own eye care clinics, the NECO Center for Eye Care Commonwealth and Roslindale, along with the NECO Clinical Network. NECO allows some applicants to skip senior year of college once required coursework is finished, and offers a Bachelor of Science in Optometry option for students entering the O.D. program with 90 qualifying credits.
