The Master's University began in 1927 as Los Angeles Baptist College and Seminary, moved to Newhall in what is now Santa Clarita in 1961, took the name The Master's College in 1985 and became a university in 2016. The suburban campus on Placerita Canyon Road is home to seven schools offering bachelor's and master's degrees, several of them fully online, plus a seminary granting the Th.B., master's, D.Min. and Ph.D. A one-year Master's Institute leads to a Bible certificate, and the IBEX extension campus operates near Jerusalem. Wikipedia lists 2,890 students, of whom 1,952 are undergraduates and 375 study in the seminary. The Mustangs play in the NAIA, mostly in the Golden State Athletic Conference since 2001-02, and field 18 varsity sports. Every applicant writes a salvation testimony and submits a pastor's reference.
