Suffolk University is a private university in downtown Boston, with its campus on Beacon Hill near the State House. It was founded in 1906 by Gleason Archer as an evening law school for working students, and later grew into a comprehensive university with undergraduate, graduate and law programs. Its colleges and schools include the College of Arts and Sciences, the Sawyer Business School and Suffolk Law School. Suffolk is test-optional for most undergraduate applicants and test-flexible for international applicants. Applicants are reviewed as a whole for the university rather than for a specific major, based on transcript rigor, a recommendation, an essay and activities. Art and Design majors also submit a portfolio. Applications are considered on a rolling basis for fall and spring entry.
