Saint-Petersburg State University of Engineering and Economics, Dubai Branch (ENGECON Dubai) began operating in Dubai in 2005 as an overseas branch of the St. Petersburg institution. In 2012 its parent university merged with Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance and Saint Petersburg State University of Service and Economics to form Saint-Petersburg State Economic University, now Russia's largest state university with more than 50,000 students, 40 bachelor's and 90 master's degree programmes, and over 20 regional and international branches worldwide, of which the Dubai branch is one.
