Saint Mary's University of Minnesota is a private Roman Catholic university in the Lasallian tradition, with main campuses in Winona and Minneapolis, Minnesota. Wikipedia says it was founded in 1912 as Saint Mary's College by Bishop Patrick Richard Heffron, taken over by the Brothers of the Christian Schools in 1933, and renamed in 1995 to reflect its expanded graduate and professional programs. Graduate programs also run in Rochester, with course sites in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Jamaica. It offers bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs, including online options. Wikipedia reports about 3,656 students in fall 2024 and that in 2022 the university announced plans to phase out 11 majors due to financial pressures and low undergraduate enrollment. Its Cardinals compete in NCAA Division III.
