The Royal Veterinary College was founded in 1791 on the site of its present Camden campus, and it was the first veterinary school in the UK and the first veterinary institution in the English-speaking world. It played a leading role in establishing the veterinary profession in Britain. The RVC works across two campuses: Camden in central London and Hawkshead at North Mymms in Hertfordshire, where the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals is based. It is a member of the University of London federation and had 2,575 students in 2024/25.
