Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai was established in 2008 as a not-for-profit international campus of RIT, whose main campus in Rochester, New York was founded in 1829 and has grown into a diverse, technology-focused research university with additional international sites in Croatia and Kosovo alongside Dubai. RIT Dubai was set up specifically to bring RIT-style, technology-oriented education to students across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia who might otherwise need to travel to the United States for a similar programme. It offers 10 undergraduate and 8 master's degree programmes concentrated in business and leadership, engineering, computing, psychology, and new media design, reflecting RIT's traditional strengths in technology and applied disciplines. All of RIT's programmes, in Dubai as in Rochester, are accredited under the same US institutional accreditation, and the Dubai campus is separately licensed by Dubai's Knowledge and Human Development Authority and accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education, giving graduates recognised qualifications in both the US and UAE systems.
