Park University is a private university in Parkville, Missouri. Wikipedia says it was founded in 1875 as Park College by John A. McAfee on land donated by George S. Park and renamed Park University in 2000. The original model offered free tuition and board in exchange for student work on the college farm, electrical shop or printing plant, and the school began with 17 students. It was once Presbyterian-affiliated but no longer is. It has worked with the military since 1889 and began online courses in 1996. The flagship campus is in Parkville, with the graduate school in downtown Kansas City and other sites near military bases, plus a Gilbert, Arizona campus center. Enrollment was 4,949 in fall 2025. Mackay Hall, built of campus-quarried limestone, is on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Pirates compete in the NAIA.
