Palm Beach Atlantic University is a private, nondenominational Christian university in West Palm Beach, founded in 1968 by Jess C. Moody, then pastor of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach. It began as a church-linked Baptist school and has since broadened its affiliation. The athletic teams are the Sailfish, who compete in NCAA Division II in navy blue and white, and the university says it is the only Sailfish in college athletics. In September 2024 it reported overall enrollment of 4,147, up from 3,875 the year before; Wikipedia lists 2,603 undergraduates and 709 postgraduates in its infobox. For 2025-26 the Common App listing shows PBA as test optional, with SAT, ACT or CLT scores accepted but not required. Applicants submit a high school transcript, and students from non-English-speaking countries must provide TOEFL or Duolingo results.
