Pacific Oaks College is a small college in Pasadena with Quaker roots. Seven Quaker families founded Pacific Oaks as a community education centre and nursery school in 1945 on California Boulevard, on land bought from Whittier College. The college itself was established in 1958, according to Wikipedia, after five years of upper-division courses offered through UCLA Extension, to train educators. Its Quaker background shows in its stated testimonies of community, equality, simplicity and harmony, and a social justice focus. Pacific Oaks College later joined The Community Solution Education System, a nonprofit network created by The Chicago School. WSCUC lists it as accredited, with its most recent commission action on June 28, 2024, and Breeda McGrath became president on July 1, 2024. Enrollment figures vary widely by source, from a WSCUC-listed FTE of about 440 to College Navigator headcounts over 1,000, so confirm current numbers with the college.
