Ottawa University is a private Baptist university whose main campus is in Ottawa, Kansas, not Canada. It was founded in 1865 and counts the Alpha chapter of Pi Kappa Delta, the national speech and debate honorary, among its distinctions; Tauy Jones Hall is its oldest surviving campus building. Beyond the Kansas campus, it operates a residential campus in Surprise, Arizona, adult campuses in Overland Park, Kansas, and Brookfield, Wisconsin, plus online programs. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and enrolled about 3,365 students across all campuses in fall 2024. Its admissions office reviews each applicant individually; first-year applicants submit an online application, a $25 fee and college-preparatory coursework with GPA, and standardized tests are optional.
