Northeastern University is a private research university in Boston, Massachusetts, founded in 1898 and located on Huntington Avenue. It is known for its cooperative education (co-op) program, which alternates classroom study with paid professional work, and runs campuses in several US cities and abroad. Admission is highly selective and holistic. The committee considers course rigor, including honors, AP, IB and college-level courses, along with a teacher and a school counselor recommendation, essay, resume and community contributions. Northeastern accepts the Common Application and the Coalition Application equally and is test-optional, superscoring any scores submitted. The application fee is $75 or a waiver. Early Decision I and Early Action are due November 1, and Early Decision II and Regular Decision January 1; the university expects to enroll about half its class through Early Decision.
