Merrimack College is a private Augustinian college in North Andover, Massachusetts. The Order of St. Augustine founded it in 1947 at the request of Boston Archbishop Richard Cushing, in large part to serve World War II veterans. Its first president, Rev. Vincent A. McQuade, handled the land purchase, state charter and construction, and the college opened in September 1947. The campus covers 220 acres, and Merrimack is one of only two US Catholic schools affiliated with the Augustinians, the other being Villanova. Its admissions page says it is test-free in review, charges no application fee and accepts the Common Application.
