Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) is a public research university in Jamshoro, Sindh, about 15 km from Hyderabad. It began in 1963 as Sind University Engineering College and became an independent university on 1 March 1977. It has four faculties: Mechanical, Process and Earth Engineering; Electrical, Electronics and Computer Systems Engineering; Architecture and Civil Engineering; and Basic Sciences. It offers 17 undergraduate disciplines plus ME, MPhil and PhD, and has over 7,500 students. HEC ranks it first in Sindh and eighth in Pakistan in engineering. It is recognised by HEC and the Pakistan Engineering Council.
