Maharishi International University (MIU) is a private university in Fairfield, Iowa, founded in 1971 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It began in California, moved from Goleta to Fairfield in 1974, was renamed Maharishi University of Management in 1995 and restored its original name in December 2019. It is accredited through the doctoral level by the Higher Learning Commission. MIU is known for consciousness-based education built around Transcendental Meditation, its block system of one course at a time, and programs in sustainable living, business, art and education. Applications are accepted year-round on a rolling basis for a $20 processing fee. Bachelor's applicants need a high school diploma or equivalent and a 2.5 GPA; master's applicants need a bachelor's degree and a 3.0 GPA.
