Lynn University in Boca Raton began as Marymount College, a women's junior college run by a religious order, with a first class of 96 women in 1963. Men were added in the early 1970s, it became the College of Boca Raton in 1974, and it took the Lynn name in 1991. Wikipedia gives a founding year of 1962. The private university sits on roughly 115 acres, enrolls about 3,500 students from more than 100 countries and competes in NCAA Division II. It is accredited by SACSCOC to award associate through doctoral degrees. First-year applicants may apply without SAT or ACT scores; those who go test optional are reviewed on GPA, curriculum strength, course progression, recommendations and sometimes an interview. Lynn accepts the Common App as well as its own application, and the Early Action I deadline is November 15.
