Lincoln College traces its roots to the Lincoln School of Science and Art, which opened on 27 September 1886, and was formally established as Lincoln College in 1932. Now the lead institution of a wider College Group spanning Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire, it added satellite campuses at Gainsborough and, after merging with the former Newark and Sherwood College in 2007, at Newark-on-Trent. The college is a predominantly further-education provider based on Monks Road in the City of Lincoln, delivering vocational and technical courses to more than 11,000 students, making it one of the largest educational establishments in the county.
