Jones College is a public community college in Ellisville, Mississippi, still legally named Jones County Junior College but informally rebranded as Jones College in 2018. Its history begins in 1911 with the Jones County Agricultural High School; in 1927 the board added a junior college, and the first 26 college students started in September that year. The two were separated in 1957 during a state reorganization of public schools. Fall 2025 headcount was 5,057 according to Mississippi Community College Board figures, the highest in 15 years and up from 4,995 in fall 2024. The college follows an open admissions policy. General applicants submit an application and a final high school transcript showing a regular diploma from an accredited school, while homeschool or non-accredited applicants can qualify with a composite ACT of 16 or higher if they skip the high school equivalency exam. Some programs have extra entry requirements.
