Gordon College is a private Christian liberal arts college in Wenham, Massachusetts. It traces its origins to October 2, 1889, when Boston pastor A. J. Gordon opened the Boston Missionary Training School with 19 students, six of them women, to train people for mission work, charging no tuition. After his death in 1895 it became the Gordon Missionary Training School, then Gordon Bible College in 1916 and Gordon College of Theology and Missions in 1921; the name Gordon College was adopted in 1971. The college later moved to the Fenway in Boston and then to the Wenham estate. It describes itself as a nationally ranked liberal arts institution rooted in the Christian faith, with students from more than 50 Christian denominations.
