Flagler College opened in 1968 as a private liberal arts college in St. Augustine, Florida, and its campus is centred on the Ponce de Leon Hotel, built in 1888 for Henry Flagler and now a National Historic Landmark. Lawrence Lewis Jr. drove the college's creation as a small, residential liberal arts school. Part of the historic district around it is on the National Register of Historic Places. Flagler is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The Saints compete in NCAA Division II, mainly in the Peach Belt Conference, and field 19 varsity sports. The college operated a Tallahassee campus from 2000 to 2024. After a vice president resigned in 2014 for altering student data, an investigation found it had reported false information since 2004. Enrollment is about 2,574 students according to Wikipedia, though the year of that figure is not stated, and an older catalog listed 2,429 in fall 2016.
