Emirates College of Technology (ECT) traces its origins to the Emirates Institute of Technology (EIT), established in early 1993 and recognised by the Ministry of Education to provide training in computing, management, language and university services. In 1995 EIT began offering academic programmes with international partners leading to a double-major diploma in business administration and computer information systems. Its academic division gained UAE licensure in 2003 and was renamed Emirates College of Technology in 2004, introducing six new diploma programmes between 2007 and 2008. ECT now offers three Bachelor's degree programmes in Business Administration, Financial Sciences and Mass Communication, plus six two-year diploma programmes spanning Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Computer Graphic Design, Human Resource Management and Public Relations.
