Dow University of Health Sciences was established through Sindh legislation, with the Dow University of Health Sciences Ordinance dated 2003 and later amended in 2004, and its official history page dates the Act to 2004. Dow Medical College, Sindh Medical College and Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases were its original constituent entities. Based in Karachi, it offers MBBS and BDS in several colleges, along with Pharm D, nursing, Doctor of Physical Therapy, public health, medical technology and BBA programmes, plus MBA, MPH, MDS, MPhil, PhD and FCPS training. DUHS has acted as the focal university for MDCAT in Sindh and runs an online admissions portal. MBBS and BDS applicants need to have passed MDCAT, with a minimum of 55 per cent for MBBS and 50 per cent for BDS stated in a 2023-24 DUHS notice.
