California State University, San Bernardino was founded in 1960 and, by its own account, grew from about 230 students to more than 20,000 over five decades. Its main campus sits in the foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains, and a branch campus opened in Palm Desert in 1986. Wikipedia lists fall 2025 enrollment at 19,049. Teams are the Coyotes, named for the animals around campus, and play in NCAA Division II. Admission is test-blind: California residents need a 2.50 a-g GPA and non-residents a 3.00, with a Multi-Factor Admission Score possible for some applicants just below those lines. The campus is impacted at program level for criminal justice, nursing, psychology, social work and kinesiology (applied health), where extra standards apply.
