Bryant & Stratton College was organised in 1854 to give practical workplace education. It traces back to Folsom Business College in Cleveland, founded in 1848 by Ezekiel G. Folsom; early graduates John Collins Bryant, Henry Beadman Bryant and Henry Dwight Stratton bought that school, then opened business schools in US cities, about 50 by 1864. The college's own history places the 1854 founding in Buffalo, New York. Ohio campuses include Parma and Solon, plus Akron. It offers diplomas, associate and bachelor's degrees in business, technology, hospitality, human and legal services, healthcare, nursing, education and design. The college is approved by the New York State Board of Regents and accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. After a 2015 heightened-cash-monitoring listing as a for-profit, ownership was transferred in 2020 to a New York nonprofit corporation as the college pursued nonprofit status.
