Broward College is a public college in the Florida College System, originally the Junior College of Broward County. Wikipedia dates its establishment to 1959, and the college's own history says its doors opened to a first class of 701 students on September 6, 1960. It first operated in buildings from a former naval air station on the western edge of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Campuses now include Fort Lauderdale, Miramar, Pembroke Pines and Davie, and Wikipedia lists 30,057 undergraduates for fall 2022. Broward offers associate degrees alongside bachelor's programs. General admission means completing the online application, paying the fee and submitting transcripts. Bachelor's applicants need 60 college credits or an associate degree plus a supplemental application, and the Bachelor of Applied Science is an open access program for adults who hold a two-year technical degree. Some other bachelor's programs are limited access, such as environmental science.
