Blue Mountain Christian University, formerly Blue Mountain College, is a private Southern Baptist institution in Blue Mountain, Mississippi. Confederate Brigadier General Mark Perrin Lowrey founded it in 1873 as Blue Mountain Female Institute, a women's school. The Lowrey family led it for decades, and it passed to the Mississippi Baptist Convention in 1920. It was called Blue Mountain College from 1955 to 2022, when it took its present name, and trustees voted to become fully coeducational in 2005. It offers baccalaureate and graduate programs to roughly 450 students, and its Toppers teams compete in the NAIA. Official admission requirements for first-time freshmen call for a 2.0 GPA or an ACT score of 16, with ACT, SAT or CLT scores required for most applicants.
