Bethel College is a private Christian liberal arts college in North Newton, Kansas, affiliated with Mennonite Church USA. Founded in 1887, it is described as the oldest Mennonite college in North America. The campus covers about 90 acres, and the college reports around 500 students. Bethel awards the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Science in Nursing across ten areas of study, including business, sciences and social work, and it has accredited professional programs in nursing, social work and teacher education. Its athletic teams, the Threshers, compete in the NAIA's Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Administration Building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972. Although it is church-affiliated, the college is an independent corporation, and more than half of its students come from non-Mennonite backgrounds.
