Franklin Cummings Tech, formally the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology, is a private college in Boston focused on technology and skilled trades. It was founded in 1908 with funds bequeathed in Benjamin Franklin's will, supplemented by a gift from Andrew Carnegie and land from the city. It was long known as the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) and took its present name in 2022 after a $12.5 million gift from the Cummings Foundation. In November 2020 its board voted to remain independent and ended merger talks with Wentworth Institute of Technology. The college offers certificates, associate degrees and bachelor's degrees and is accredited by NECHE. It left its South End campus in December 2025 and opened a new building at 1011 Harrison Avenue in Nubian Square, Roxbury, in January 2026. It served about 1,125 students in 2025.
