Amity University Dubai was established in 2011 as part of the wider Amity Education Group, an Indian education network founded more than three decades ago that now spans over 200,000 students and around 85,000 alumni across its various campuses worldwide. The Dubai campus was set up to extend Amity's model of large-scale, career-oriented higher education to the substantial South Asian and international community in the UAE, alongside local Emirati and other regional students. It offers more than 25 programmes at foundation, bachelor's and master's level across a wide spread of fields including business, engineering, computer science, journalism, fashion design, hospitality and tourism, forensic science, architecture, media, and law, a breadth that reflects the scale of its parent group's course catalogue in India.
