Albertus Magnus College is a Catholic liberal arts college in New Haven, Connecticut, started by the Dominican Sisters. The sisters bought an estate in 1924 with the aim of opening a women's college, the charter was signed on July 13, 1925, and the first classes met on September 24 of that year in Rosary Hall, the mansion on the property. The school stayed women-only for decades and became coeducational in all of its programmes in 1985. It now serves traditional undergraduates alongside a sizeable adult and graduate population, with degrees running from bachelor's to master's level. The college marked its centenary in 2025 and said its incoming fall class of more than 300 students would push traditional undergraduate enrollment to a record total. Albertus remains small and teaching-focused, and its Dominican heritage still shapes the mission and the rhythm of campus life for students and staff.
