Agnes Scott College is a private liberal arts college for women in Decatur, Georgia, a few miles east of Atlanta, set on a campus of about 91 acres. It was founded in 1889 as Decatur Female Seminary by Presbyterian minister Frank Henry Gaines, became Agnes Scott Institute in 1890 in honor of the mother of its main benefactor, and took its present name in 1906. It is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA) and enrolls roughly 1,100 students. The college was the first institution of higher education in Georgia to earn regional accreditation and is counted among the 'Seven Sisters of the South'. Its curriculum is built around the SUMMIT program, which combines leadership development, global learning and career preparation, and the poet Robert Frost was a frequent visitor to campus.
