The King's School, Canterbury is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school in Kent, England. It comprises three schools: Junior King's, the Senior School and The International College. The school states that it was established in 597 and re-founded in 1541. It began as the monastic school of Canterbury Cathedral, after St Augustine arrived in 597. In 1541, a Royal Charter from Henry VIII reorganised the Cathedral and provided for a school with fifty scholars. The Senior School, for ages 13 to 18, stands in the Cathedral's historic Precincts. It has been fully co-educational since 1990. Junior King's, founded in 1879, has been at Sturry, about two miles from Canterbury, since 1929. It teaches pupils from Nursery to Year 8. The International College opened in 2018 for students aged 13 to 17.
