The Dalton School is a private, coeducational, independent college-preparatory day school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan, New York City. It was founded in 1919 by Helen Parkhurst as the Children's University School and is built around the Dalton Plan. The school serves students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, organised into the First Program for Kindergarten to Grade 3, a Middle School for Grades 4 to 8 and a High School for Grades 9 to 12. The First Program is at 53 East 91st Street, while the Grade 4 to 12 programs are at 108 East 89th Street, with a physical education center at 200 East 87th Street.
