Highgate School is an independent co-educational day school in Highgate village, north London, on North Road. It was founded in 1565 by Sir Roger Cholmeley, a former Chief Justice and local landowner. The school educates pupils from age 4 to 18 across a Pre-Prep for ages 4 to 7, a Junior School for ages 7 to 11, a Senior School for ages 11 to 16 and a Sixth Form for ages 16 to 18. Boarding ended in the early 1990s. Highgate announced in 2001 that it would become fully co-educational, and girls joined the senior and junior schools from 2004. The school was a founding partner of the London Academy of Excellence and sponsors the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham.
