Withington Girls' School is an independent day school for girls in Fallowfield, Manchester. A group of Manchester families founded it in 1890. They wanted their daughters to have the same chances in education as their sons. The founders set three principles: the school would stay small, every girl would study the natural sciences, and pupils would do more physical exercise and practical work than was usual at the time. Today the school has a Junior School for ages 7 to 11, a Senior School for ages 11 to 16, and a Sixth Form. Pupils take GCSEs and A Levels. The school belongs to HMC and the Girls' Schools Association (GSA). It offers means-tested bursaries, and about one in six Senior School pupils receives financial support. Wraparound care is available in both the Junior and Senior School.

Most girls join in Year 7 after an entrance exam in January and an interview, while Sixth Form entry depends on GCSE grades, a personal statement and an interview.
Sixth Form applicants submit an online personal statement with predicted grades, and the school requests a reference from their current school.
Dates, fees and criteria change every session. Always confirm them on the official admissions page before applying.
