The Nightingale-Bamford School is an independent, university-preparatory day school for girls at 20 East 92nd Street on Manhattan's Upper East Side. It was founded in 1920 by Frances Nicolau Nightingale and Maya Stevens Bamford as Miss Nightingale's School and took its present name in 1929. The school educates girls from kindergarten through Class XII in a Lower School, Middle School and Upper School, with students of all ages sharing one building, known as the Schoolhouse. Nightingale is a member of the New York Interschool consortium, and its athletic teams are known as the Nighthawks. A new athletics facility near the Schoolhouse broke ground in September 2025 and is scheduled to open in fall 2027.
