Nassau Community College is a public community college in the State University of New York system, located at One Education Drive in Garden City on Long Island. It was founded in 1959 and opened on February 1, 1960, with 632 students. The 225-acre campus occupies former Mitchel Air Force Base land. The college offers more than 60 associate degrees and certificates, including Associate of Arts, Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science degrees, along with Weekend College, digital learning, ESL, study abroad, a winter session, continuing education and workforce development. Students can take part in about 80 clubs and organizations, and the athletic teams are known as the Nassau Lions.
